Explore this need in the finder →Explorer 5000 Plus with Smart Transfer Switch review
This U.S. offer contains one JE-5000A Explorer 5000 Plus station and a Jackery Smart Transfer Switch, but no solar panel or expansion battery. SKU 60-5000-USA1A1 is worth separating from the standalone station because the switch is part of this exact order. The 5,040 Wh battery and 7,200 W station output remain the same. A switch does not add stored energy, and the station's 4,000 W high-PV rating does not mean panels or a solar lead are included.
Plan the electrical work before buying
The Smart Transfer Switch is a smart household device, not a manual transfer switch or plug-in strip. Jackery's documentation describes arrangements of up to 12 120 V circuits or 6 240 V circuits. Which setup is usable depends on the home's panel and service. A qualified electrician should review panel compatibility, selected branches, neutral and grounding, circuit loading and code before you buy or install it. This is not an invitation to connect a station directly to home wiring with a homemade cord. A package picture does not prove the switch fits every house or feeds every circuit.
The switch's automatic behavior depends on the documented setup and enabled smart-transfer feature. If the feature is not configured, transfer timing differs. It is not safe to generalize the product-page timing to every circuit or load. Separately, the station manual specifies an under-20 ms backup UPS and a 0 ms online UPS mode only through NEMA 5-20 outlets, with a 3,600 W cap. The separate modes should not be confused. Sensitive electronics and devices requiring uninterrupted switching should be checked against their maker's tolerances and tested in the actual configuration; an appropriate dedicated UPS may still be needed.
Output is not a single socket rating
The JE-5000A supports 120/240 V operation and has four NEMA 5-20 outlets plus L14-30R and 14-50 connections. Jackery lists 7,200 W maximum total AC output and 14,400 W surge. Surge is not continuous power, and the total output figure does not mean every outlet can supply the whole total. Match the appliance's voltage, plug, running draw and starting demand to the actual outlet and circuit. In the manual's -15°C to -10°C ambient band, AC output is reduced to 3,600 W. The station measures about 16.5 by 15.5 by 25 inches and weighs 134.5 lb; wheels help on a smooth floor but do not make it a casual carry unit.
Battery storage is 5,040 Wh nameplate in this SKU. The 4,000-cycle rating to at least 70% capacity is a manufacturer-published endpoint, not a measured life or an amount of energy you can count on at an outlet. Up to five compatible Battery Pack 5000 Plus units can be added, but they are separate purchases and do not raise inverter output. If a longer outage plan depends on a pack, compare the 10 kWh bundle, which includes one pack alongside a switch.
Solar and the physical environment
This exact offer contains no panels. High-PV input is listed at 135–450 V, 15 A and up to 4,000 W. A separate low-PV path has two DC 8 mm ports accepting 16–60 V, 10.5 A per port and 1,200 W combined. Those are not one interchangeable input range. The manual gives about 3.5 hours for a stated AC charge condition, but it is not a promise for every circuit, setting or ambient temperature. If solar matters, compare a panel bundle or verify a separate array against the manual and exact cables.
The manual directs indoor use and warns against rain and humidity. Keep the station and switch in dry, protected locations with the required clearances. Charging is specified at 0°C to 45°C and discharging from -15°C to 45°C. Treat the installer plan, placement and ventilation as part of the purchase, not something solved by the switch being in the box.
Choosing between exact offers
Pick this switch-only package if selected-circuit backup matters and you already own or will obtain compatible solar hardware. The standalone station keeps the home wiring decision open. The two-panel-plus-switch offer adds 500 X panels but retains their input-current caveat. The 10 kWh switch package adds one battery pack, not panels; the 20 kWh Home Backup Kit supplies two stations and a separate paired configuration. If you only need to keep a refrigerator, network equipment and lights operating temporarily, a smaller station may be easier to move and use without a panel installation. Build a load list, distinguish simultaneous watts from battery Wh, and get an electrician's input before relying on home transfer. This review is based on listed documentation; no installation or switching test was conducted.
